MERIDIAN DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Maple Grove, MINNESOTA
This triangular site, with its proposed use requiring separation between
automobile and truck traffic, called for an extensive design study. The
resulting structure is an attractive Distribution Center with 30' clear interior
height, flexible office space and trucking facilities.
The trucking facilities include both drive-in
and dock-doors with levelers, lights and weatherseals.
The primary central entry material is brick, with cast-stone inserts and
colored metal medallions. The black/gray storefront, with its contrasting bright
aluminum doors, clearly defines the entries. Limestone faced precast concrete
panels with brick and limestone accents carries this theme around the building
perimeter, using contrasting materials to avoid a "big box" look. Because of the high
pile warehouse capability, the project required a high density fire suspension system,
tied into a computerized mechanical smoke evacuation system.
